Aptly named, I think I would have to dub Angela Hayden
as "Country's Angel". She obviously has the face of an angel and once you've
heard her, there's no disputing she has a voice to match; soft as a whisper with a range
that reaches to the heavens. Another title bestowed on this young lady is the
"Yodelling Sweetheart", also well deserved.
Born in Sydney, Australia and raised in Coolah, N.S.W.,
this 19 year old rising star has spread her wings arcoss the globe leaving a lasting
impression in her wake. Angela began her career at the age of 11 and in two and a half
years time had been awarded over 100 trophies and awards. By the ripe old age of 18, her
CD and Cassette sales had exceeded 22,000 from her three albums.
In 1997, Angela came to the USA on what started out as
a holiday and soon turned into several guest appearances including "Jimmy Rogers
Memorial Service". She appeared on "Coutry Music Morning" (TV) and various
radio and live performances in Branson and Meridian. In Nashville, record producers were
very excited by the quality of her songwriting and vocal ability, inviting her to return.
Angela has just released her fourth album, self titled,
"Angela Hayden" and I expect to see the sale figures soar even higher. Out of 12
songs on this album, all were written and composed by Angela Hayden with the exception of
4 songs that she co-wrote with others and "Mocking Bird Yodel" by 'Torrani'
With the release of Angela's new album, her record
company, Sunball records has also released her first music video, "If You Were
Mine", the first single released from the album. The video is scheduled for rotation
on CMT in the South Pacific.
On a final note, I have to point out the obvious.....
it seems a great deal of the truly tradional country music comes from outside of the US
anymore... this time it's comin' to ya via Australia!
