Call Of The West
Dr. Fry Band
Debbie Dukes, a country music recording artist from Raleigh, MS., says, "I'm bad
country and that's it." Wrong, Debbie! You're GREAT country!
|Aside from all the mistakes we can list that are being
made in the country music industry today I'd like to point out that TNN is playing the
wrong "Dukes"! We've had enough "Hazards" going on in the country
field. I highly suggest they forget the tired reruns and go with the latest
"Dukes" on the scene, Debbie Dukes. Pure, fresh, original and honest to goodness
REAL country music.... the way it was meant to be.... Debbie Dukes will thrill the
hard core traditionalists and I have no doubt she can easily win the hearts of the
"new" country listeners.
Debbie is a breath of fresh country air and her new
album, "Blue House Painted White" is filled with 12 songs, all HIT material,
from writers such as the great Hank Cochran and produced by none other than Fred Foster.
The band includes Weldon Myrick on Steel Guitar and "Hoot" Hester on Fiddle
which compliment Debbie's classic country style, becoming the heart of the music without
overpowering the vocals on the songs.
I don't usually use the name of one of my idols, Tammy
Wynette, when describing another artist, but in Debbie's case, it's a must. She makes no
attempt to imitate the great "Queen of Country". She has her own sound that is
unmistakable but I have seldom heard another female artist with the heartfelt
"cry" in her voice that we all acclaimed to Tammy. Debbie has that
"cry", it's an innate, natural sound that no one could fake...you've either got
it or you don't.....
Debbie has, without a doubt, Got It!
